Blinds come in a variety of materials such as aluminum, vinyl, wood, faux wood and composite materials. They are available in a variety of colors, styles and widths (1", 2", 2 1/2" horizontals and the 3 1/2" verticals which are embossed PVC). First, let's focus on premium wood blinds since we believe they provide the most decorative window covering for the best value.
A quick word about faux wood blinds.... The term faux wood simply means "fake" wood. Faux woods can be either composites, meaning it's a mixture of wood product "saw dust" and pvc, or completely artificial material, which is usually vinyl. Either way, these products are usually extruded. The faux products have improved recently and if you are on a limited budget they can be a nice alternative to real wood. They are, however, much heavier than wood so if you intend on pulling the blind up and down often, as opposed to tilting the louvres, you should spring for the real thing.
WOOD BLINDS
The most popular wood blind is the 2" wood. The natural hardwood stains and painted finishes are both beautiful and durable. The 100% basswood is lightweight and stable. Stock colors are varied enough that you'll be sure to find one to compliment the look of your home. Many colors are available in the 2 1/2" width also for a slightly higher cost. The larger width blinds give more of a shutter type look and provide more light and view when tilted open than the smaller widths. If a window is especially large, it may require a "2 on 1" headrail application. We can advise you regarding this when we come to your home to measure. Most wood blinds come with a limited lifetime warranty.
VERTICAL BLINDS
Vertical Blinds are an excellent choice for French or patio doors as well as large and small window openings . They are easy to maintain and offer superb light control and privacy. We carry an extensive choice of fabric and other materials for you to choose from.
